Another day to celebrate…. Happy World Oceans Day 2012!

Another day to celebrate that I had no idea even existed until this morning.

Happy World Oceans Day everyone!!

As we (should) all know, water covers about 70% of the earths surface which is huge! And imagine how deep some of these oceans go, it is nearly enough to give you a headache.

For more information about the day from the official website click here

It’s good to see that Greenpeace NZ has had a good campaign today regarding tuna sustainability at Foodstuffs and awarding PAMS and Ceres for their efforts.

Have a great day celebrating more of Nature’s best.

Waterworld (no reference to the movie)

It has become apparent to me how reliant the world is upon a simple thing such as water.

It is simply two parts Hydrogen to one part Oxygen and yet humans, plants and animals and all other living things on this planet are all so dependent on it.

Water covers 70.9% of the earths surface which is a heck of a lot.

When exercising we need to hydrate to compensate for sweating and evaporation. A simple headache can be cured merely by drinking a glass of water, although by the time the headache kicks in we are well passed dehydrated so it pays to just drink the right amount of water daily as a preventative.

I have two pictures below not only showing the difference water makes to a plant, but also showing how tolerant plants are to maltreatment and how easily they spring back to life with nothing but some good old H2O.

Basil Before the Water

Basil After the water

I watered the Basil in the evening at about 7pm then checked it again the next morning.

Very impressive Nature! 🙂

Welcome to NatureFan.

Welcome to NatureFan.

This is my blog about all things nature as I am a Nature Fan.

Oftentimes I see/hear/read about something awesome in nature and want to share it. Now I can.

This is also a good outlet for my writing whilst I am still working on getting published.

For my first blog I should share something about Nature right? Makes sense to me.

Plant regeneration! I am always amazed at how awesomely plants respond to a little bit of TLC.

Even just the Basil that we have growing on our kitchen bench, if it gets neglected for a couple of days then it is droopy and sad. All it needs is some water and ten minutes later it is already standing up straighter ready to grow some more.

Sorry I don’t have any pictures of this. I do want this to be a very visual blog as I find it is so much more stimulating to the reader. As I was taught at school, a picture is worth a thousand words, therefore in the words of a great author, a video is worth a thousand pictures (and literally is).

I will instead share a non-related website that I like just to get the ball rolling 🙂
